Our Voice & Participation Youth Worker, Chloe, sat down with one of our ESOL students, who has completed his studies at asphaleia, and found out about his experience with us and his future plans.
Where are you from?
I am from Sudan.
So, you’ve been at asphaleia since about October, what have you enjoyed most about your time studying here?
I’ve enjoyed many things at asphaleia. The teachers and the lessons and the activities were good. I liked playing games with you at lunch and meeting lovely people. I made a lot of friends.
I know this about you, you are not afraid to talk to anyone!
Yes, I like to talk to people. It is the best way to get to know them.
And now, that you are moving on from asphaleia, what are your plans?
To keep studying. I have been offered a place to study at college in Brighton.
What did you think of the campus?
It’s very nice – it’s bigger than asphaleia. I play football there [a few times a week]. I’m going with some other friends from asphaleia who are studying there too.
What would you like to do in the future, after college?
I want to study more, become an electrician or an engineer and a football player.
And what football team would you play for?
Mmm.. Brighton or Manchester United.
If you'd like to tell us about your studies and future plans, or interview another young person at asphaleia, let Chloe know!
